There’s so many things to love about today’s homemade party, I don’t even know where to start! I mean, just look at that screenshot of Rica Peralejo-Bonifacio’s Instagram feed? It’s one filled with pretty little details and a whole lot of love as we see everyone working together for Philip’s first birthday.
The theme…I love the theme and the idea behind it. Indeed, time flies so fast when you’re watching a little one grow up. One minute they’re wriggling and crying in their cribs, then they’re crawling and walking and running the next!
That backyard…gaaah! Who wouldn’t want to lounge and spend a lazy afternoon in that? Those mismatched banigs from sister Paula’s collection gave this party the perfect chill vibe. These served as the “tables” and chalkboards and frames were used as place cards, with families each having a banig set up for them. They had welcome baskets containing the essentials for the party: wooden utensils, paper plates, paper cups, table napkins, etc.
The food…some homemade, some ordered, some brought in by family and friends! At one point during the day, Rica posts a photo of Philip and daddy ordering food online while mommy and her crew were a-busy DYI’ing!
That dessert spread…oh what a treat!
This cardboard airplane…also DIY’d of course! Creatively done by Rica’s nieces. You can read about their tutorial here.
Even the games were DIY! No party host, no clowns, no magic show. Just a bunch of people genuinely having fun and enjoying each other’s company!
Rica writes in her blog: “We had less than 40 guests and we really wanted it to be small because my husband and I both felt that a party doesn’t need to be big to be special. So the people we invited really were the most immediate of our families, and closest of our friends. This is also why I am so grateful to everyone who made it!” And yes Rica, Philip is so loved! Congratulations to you and your husband for raising such a charming little boy! Thank you for letting us share your labor of love with our Homemade Parties community!
