“No time to siesta, it’s time to fiesta!” is what Staniss’ invites promised to his guests! And it sure looked like a fun fiesta filled with old-school party elements like printed balloons, hotdogs on sticks, and banderites. How about parlor games like pabitin, stop dance and Trip to Jerusalem? That sounds like fun! We don’t see these in parties often anymore so I’m sure you’ll enjoy as much as we did going through the photos and reminiscing about the parties we used to have as kids. If you were a child of the 80’s, you’d definitely want to see more of this party!
I love how Mommy Shaena opted to order food from Amber and have Staniss’ Lolas prepare most of the dishes. No pretentious catered party food here! The bottomless palamigs like sago’t gulaman must’ve also been a hit!
What a different take on a dessert table. Staniss’ Sari-Sari store was filled with old-school treats! Look closer and I’m sure you’ll see several items you miss eating as a kid!
Colorful sisiw as prizes? Yes please! Plastic balloons, Jack’s Stones, tautauhan and jolens for the loot bags? Yes, yes, yes!
I love how the Filipino theme was also incorporated in the entire event. Guests were asked to come wearing anything that shows Filipino pride. Check out these two little makabayans who won best in costume.
This little cutie sure had a blast and was lucky to experience how it was like to party in the ’80s, thanks to his creative parents! More parties like this please!
Mommy Shaena shares this about the party:
Remember how we used to celebrate our parties in the 80’s/90’s? When my partner and I were brainstorming for the theme, we wanted it to be very special and close to our heart. We started reminiscing our parties when we were kids and then voila! We immediately agreed on the concept from hotdogs “na nakatuhod sa repolyo at upo”, colorful tasty bread (though we served plain since bakers don’t make it anymore), old school candies, chichirya to perspiration driven games. So we decided to throwback that kind of party for the kids of today, how 90’s kids party and intentionally make our batch friends reminisce. Alas! Not only the kids enjoyed the party, but the kids at heart as well. They experienced a blast from the past party. Some of our friends got sentimental and were surprised that some of our old favorite candies/chichirya and toys still existed.
