DIY Construction and Mechanic’s Workbench

Mommy Rodessa’s DIY play kitchen went viral early this year and she’s at it again, now building a  DIY gas pump, auto mechanic workbench, and hardware playset for her nephew! She shares, “Some of the comments when the play kitchen went viral is that some parents would want to build something for their little boys also. I thought of my 3 year old nephew, Hendrix who is also fascinated with cars, construction equipments and tools. I decided to make him a workbench with its own gas pump. It was a perfect idea because it could pretty much cover most of his interest and store his existing toys.” 

So from recycled cardboard boxes came this brilliant play area that you can also make for your kids’ parties. They say you can find inspiration anywhere and this is a perfect inspiration for those planning to have a construction-themed party or a race-car party. Your little guests will enjoy playing make believe with these!

Mommy adds, “I set-up the finished workbench when Hendrix was asleep. I even left a note for him so that he will be surprised when he wakes up. He was very happy and excited to play with the workbench. I left the road and safety sign stickers to him to decorate the workbench. He had a lot of fun identifying the road and safety signs. Even my little Audrey joined him play with the workbench.”

She says it’s not as perfect as her kitchen project, since she only had three days to finish, working on it while visiting relatives. But we here think it turned out just fine! Not everybody has the talent to turn something plain like cardboard boxes into something extra-ordinary, so we’re pretty sure part of Hendrix’ and Audrey’s excitement comes from watching Aunt/Mommy Rodessa work her magic!
