So, here’s the buzz! Someone turned a year old and proud mommy Marion threw him an adorable bee-themed party! “I love yellow and thought it would be a good color scheme to play with because it is gender-neutral. I also chose the bee theme because bees symbolize hard work, which is something I want to impart to my son,” she shares. We all know DIY parties take a bit of work to complete so props to mommy Marion for putting all this together – from setting up the dessert buffet to making the cake toppers to actually baking the cupcakes and experimenting on her first naked cake! She ends with this tip to other DIY moms out there, “The key to an all-DIY, stress-free, hassle-free and well-executed homemade party is planning, creating and collecting things over a period of time.” And there’s an #hmptip right there!
Elijah’s family lives in Siquijor but his party supplies were all from Cebu:
- Baking needs from The Baking Depot
- Craft materials from Expression Bookstore
- Party Needs from Hannah’s and Carbon Market

My nephew’s DIY first birthday was featured by Homemade Parties. My sister did almost everything in the party. My contribution, aside from the write-up in the feature, was the DIY (and super easy) birthday invitation.
