Better get your pens ready and start taking down notes because this theme is going to be a sure favorite! With summer fast approaching, a Moana-inspired party is definitely something to consider. Briel’s mom, Mild, put together an amazing classroom party filled with details from the movie Moana – even making her own Heart of Te Fiti necklace (polymer + nail polish + turbo broiler!) and grass skirt for the dessert table (yep, she tied those dried grass on the rope o-n-e by o-n-e!) My favorite DIY trick of hers was tracing a pattern on jute loot bags using her mobile phone’s light as “stencil.” Kudos to DIY mommies with bright ideas (get it, bright, light? Ok. nvm 😂) Well, what more can I say except 🎶…this is awesome!
Mommy Mild shares this of her experience in putting together the party: “I did most of the decors, from painting the logo on the jute backdrop, coconut husk Kakamoras, the makeshift ocean out of her kuya’s helmet box, paper hibiscus, to the kitchen paper roll totem pole. I even had help from the birthday girl in grinding some Graham Crackers to turn them into faux sand. Some ideas like the googly eyed empanadas were inspired from other Moana parties. For the souvenirs, I bought jute pouches with custom tags then added the Moana ship logo with a red orange crayon; then filled them with goodies, glow sticks, and one of my childhood favorites, growing animals. I couldn’t find a necklace available here so I decided to just make one out of polymer clay. The bamboo arc was by my uncle who gladly made it for Briel.”
